Wonder is the sadness of joy.

the last rolls of thunder of a passing,

storm. A damage that could have been catastrophic

but spared your soul by grace or mercy you were shown.

It’s the total of all the love you have ever known.

It’s the stars above, their lights which shine,

a gentle reminder we don’t have much time.

Wonder is all the time left to live.

What all does the heavens have to give?

pretty lights of far off space, telling us

that we have a time, this is our place.

All that’s good, why I dare you to know,

leave the World a bit better, before you go.

Those lives you helped breathe easy, they won’t forget,

a gift of wonder placed before, in their eyes it’s you they will adore.

See now what wonder is?

Is all you are and everything good.

Wonder is the stillness between tensions that passion made,

It’s the price of love that must be paid.

It exists between days so good,

Its kindest show but not deserved,

mercy wins, I don’t care what you’ve heard.

Wonder is this life we have,

All of everything, both good and sad.

Its the pain of loss after you go,

And the assurance that it was you,

I got to know.
